Iâm in love with being a postpartum doula! Why?
Well, first, it allows me to nurture other women and help them transition into motherhood. Letâs face it, becoming a mom is not always easy. Many of my friends and family members have expressed high levels of anxiety and frustration about the motherhood process. Sure, itâs a beautiful, god-like act, but it can also be super overwhelming.
Second, I really welcome the opportunity to help a woman celebrate her body. People donât often think of it this way but itâs really an honor to carry a baby. I mean, I donât want to sound too much like the overlords in The Handmaidâs Tale đ but carrying and birthing a baby really is a gift to be cherished.
Part of celebrating a womanâs body is making sure that the body is healthy and strong. I make that happen by providing a fitness regimen and a healthy diet. For example, in this picture, youâll see what I call an âat home bounce back meal.â Itâs a great treat to have when you come back from the hospital after giving birth. I stayed up all night making homemade bone broth for one of my clients– itâs great for protein and collagen. I also made some yummy, homemade golden milk, which is loaded with antioxidants to help fight disease and anti-inflammatory agents for aches and pains. This tea blend also helps boost a woman’s reproductive system and aids with breastfeeding. So its good to drink before AND after the baby. đ
You can never have too much help getting your body back in tip-top shape after giving birth!
