My journey

I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my purpose in life. This has been an extremely rough process!

What makes me do what I do– my work with women, delivering babies and hosting meditation events in women’s shelters? Like, how did I get here? With so many amazing opportunities coming my way, I really have to evaluate which ones are in line with my goals and purpose.

Not every opportunity is not something that we should say “yes” to.

When I reflect back on my childhood, I remember how my mom never had time to nurture herself or the other woman in my community.

When I first moved to New York  we were in the middle of  a recession  and I was working a commission based job which was  pretty scary. The only thing that kept my faith that things  would work  out  was my prayer/meditation practice, some affordable yoga classes at yoga for the people.  Once I was in a much better place spiritually and financially I begin to think wow that was a really challenging moment for me I can’t imagine what mothers must go through that are in a community where there’s no meditation or yoga class.

And that was the beginning of my journey of the purpose of teaching women Meditation , and how to keep the faith through any situation  .

Last week, I was volunteering in the shelters again and I was able to bring my amazing “singing bowls” and candles and oils. The women were so gracious and so appreciative that I wished I could do it every day. I was reminded of why I do the work that I do.

Two years ago, I hosted my first meditation event at Bottomless Closet which was awesome after going through a divorce and being homeless and pregnant. It felt so good to my spirit and my soul being in the place with women who are in need, not to mention new brand new babies to the event.
