There is no Traffic in Your Lane!

Recently, I was listening to a podcast by Imani Cohen (A.K.A. @TheHoodHealer), a popular healer on Instagram. I loved what she said about pursuing your dreams. She said, “thereā€™s no traffic in your lane!” What a great concept, right?

Her interview on progression.fm podcast reminded me that a year and a half ago I wanted to do meditation workshops for women in lower income community. This idea came to me because I moved to NYC in the middle of a recession and I was super broke. Thankfully, I was able to stay calm thanks to Yoga to the PeopleĀ butĀ it’s not availableĀ in lower-income communities where people need it the most.

If youā€™ve never heard of it, definitelyĀ check it out– they offer yoga for less than $15 per class!

While I was still thinkingĀ about my plan, I met a guy who was doing pretty much the same thing. Specifically, he was offering meditationĀ workshops in Corporate America. After talking to him I felt somewhat insecure. It made me wonder if the market was oversaturated. Was there room for me too? Scared, I eventually listened to his workshop and was surprised to discover his approach was completely different than mine.

Instead of feeling insecurity when I met him, I should have been feeling grateful for the confirmation that what I want to achieve is possible. I got too caught up in the idea of limited opportunities. Like Imani said,Ā  thereā€™s no traffic in your lane! If itā€™s for you, itā€™s for you!

3 tips to make it happen for you!

  1. Decide what you love to do and become immersed in it. Find out all you can, do all you can and stay in the flow. You can never learn too much about what you’ve chosen to succeed in.Ā
  2. Be authentic. People thought that I would show up in yoga pants or baggy clothes becauseĀ I’m a wellness worker but, no, I come from a fashion background so I dress to impress. I’m definitelyĀ not granola. LOL!
  3. Be positive! Attitude will always shape your outcome.Ā

Good luck!
