I think the world of RaVal! Not only do I absolutely love her energy, spirit and her dedication to empowering women to be healthy and happy, she also thought enough of me to invite me to participate in a panel on infertility– a topic that means that so much to me. I didn’t take the invitation lightly.
About a month after the panel, I tried to return the favor by inviting RaVal to work out with me and halfway through our workout she said, “Oh, I didn’t know you were a personal trainer! I thought you just delivered babies.” I laughed and then she said something else that really stuck with me: “Hey Wasidah, if you’re doing personal training it’s totally okay to post bikini pics. We want to see your body!”
These words really hit home because I’d been feeling conflicted about my brand. RaVal made me realize that I’ll never be a one-size-fits-all kind of doula. Yes, I deliver babies but I’m more of a fitness and fashion doula. Adding those two words allow me to clarify my brand– not everyone is going to want a sexy doula– but that’s me! 🙂
Now, let’s take a moment to address the fabulous Angelique! Like many Leos, she came across intimidating at first. Plus, she’s a lot taller than me and she’s absolutely gorgeous. Once we started talking, I realized she was completely down to earth and beautiful from the inside out.
And there was a DJ/host who completely made me nervous because she always looks absolutely gorgeous. She’s completely the Black Cinderella– beautiful hair, makeup always on point, and fabulous outfits. I secretly want her to adopt me as a little sister so I can borrow her clothes! LOL!
