The hardest part of letting go …

The hardest part of letting go and starting all over is having faith that God will put you in a better place. Just a few days ago, Kate Spade allegedly took her own life when her husband filed for divorce. While her husband says that they were peacefully living apart, only they know what really happened. If their separation had anything to do with what happened, I partially understand. Losing your significant other, especially after 35 years can feel like being uprooted. I can definitely relate since I’m going through something similar right now. Without getting into all the gory details, I will say that I’ve recently picked up a few habits that have been helpful to me and they could be helpful to you too if you’re going through a difficult period.

1. Go within. It’s going to be hard. Trust me, I know. But dedicate yourself to prayer and meditation twice a day. Even if it’s only 5 or 10 minutes, taking a bit a time out can help you get a little bit of clarity and lot of calm.

2. Take notes. Write down the reason why you feel the need to start over and then keep writing. Don’t stop for anything. Keep the pen moving (or the keyboard keys clicking) for a few minutes. You might be surprised what you write.

3. Teamwork makes the dream work. Create a strong, supportive team that has been through what you’re currently going through. For me, this required pursuing new friendships.

4. No risk, no reward! Remember that faith and fear cannot live in the same house.
