Words can’t express the gratitude I have for the opportunity to speak on a panel about a topic that means so much to me.
I was recently invited to be a part of a panel discussion called What the F!? It will be presented by Trellis and RaVal Davis and the discussion will be about minority health, fertility, and egg freezing. Sounds like a lot, right? It is! But not in a bad way.
Listen, I spent the whole first year of my former marriage being sad and depressed because I couldn’t get pregnant. I never ever imagined a life where I would get married and then have difficulty conceiving a child.
When I got married, I remember telling a few of my friends that I planned to get pregnant right away. Ther response surprised me. Basically, they said that it might not happen right away. They reminded me of my age and told me stories about how they had to go through IVF (In vitro fertilization) or even had to have their eggs frozen for future use. It was a reality check but it still hit me hard when it happened to me.
