This year, I decided to do something a little bit different for New Year’s Eve. I decided to get centered and focused rather than crunk and disorderly! LOL! So, instead of trying to find a party, I sought out a temple. Yes! A temple. But, wait, let me back up and start from the beginning.
First, I went to church. Praise God! It’s never a bad thing to start off the new year in church, giving thanks for all the blessings you have received during the year, am I right?! Then, after church, I met up with some friends and we headed over to a Buddhist temple for a bit of a Zen.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but everyone was SO nice! Even perfect strangers who were ringing in the new year at the same place were super accommodating to us. Plus, the temple was nice and warm, which was perfect because you know it was cold that night! ANNND, it was only $20 to get in! And that price included food! I mean, that’s an amazing deal for any day, but especially on New Year’s Eve! Winning! And that’s not all! There was also a speaker who talked to us about how meditation can be a path to radiating peace and love outward to others.
Anyway, I had a great time. All that said, though, there was one member of our group who was so negative about everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING! From the food to the speaker, this person was just full of complaints. And that got me to thinking.
Their behavior made me realize that any day can be a good day or a bad day. The only thing that makes it good or bad is you. Your attitude affects everything around you and if you chose to complain, you may not realize it but you’re choosing to be negative. Take the time to assess your thoughts. How positive are you? Are you choosing happy? Are you looking on the bright side of everything? If not, you should be. Otherwise, if you get into the habit of being negative, then you will never find happiness, no matter what your circumstances are.
Find happy! Be happy! Every day! Make it your daily practice! Your life will get better. Trust me!
