âMost important thing is to get rid of doubt. If you got doubt in what youâre doing itâs not gonna work.â – Nipsey Hussle ??
I posted this on Facebook a few days ago with this profile picture of the rapper in his prime.
Although I’m definitely super emotional from supporting the birth of my third doula baby this month, the murder of  Nipsey Hussle has been heavy on my heart and my head.
His killing makes me think about the high levels of stress that Black women deal with on a daily basis. I mean, what must it feel like to give birth to a Black son in this world? Or even to love your Black husband or brother? How does it feel to love a Black man knowing that they can be killed at any time?
I can’t imagine what Nipsey’s wife, actress Lauren London, must be going through. Or even all the women who have supported him throughout the community.
Nipsey’s death has been a tremendous loss but also there is a lesson to be learned here. One of the most painful and hardest lessons to learn is that we need to do better at supporting and loving one another, versus competing and hating on each other. And, as Nipsey said, don’t live in doubt.
Rest in power, Nipsey.
